Eastern Shore Blues. Oil on Linen. 2017. 16 x 20

My husband and I love to go driving on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay.  There are always luscious views of marshes, fields, the bay, and the many streams that flow into it.  Fertile ground for painting.  This new painting will be shown for the first time at our upcoming exhibit at Gallery B in Bethesda.

Showing New Oil Paintings! the first ~~ Dark Pines on the Bay

Six art buddies and I are set to open a new month long exhibit next week. (Kick-off public reception on the 12th – details to follow. )  Have been crunching to do SEVEN new paintings for the show.  Here’s number one:

Doodles While Traveling

We flew to California for Christmas this year and, as usual, I occupied myself at the airports and in-air by some iPad doodling.  Thought it would be fun to share some of those from this and earlier flights with you.

New Paintings Over the Holidays

I squeezed in a few iPad paintings over the Christmas holiday.  My favorite is this sketch of son Sam and grandson Max relaxing over a new book.  I shared on Facebook & will add again below the little scribble I did of Max’s lego creation made from a complex (5 bag) set on Christmas Day.  He only called for adult help once or twice in the multi-hour endeavor.  Way to go, Max!

Dog I ~~ CJ

My brother has a gorgeous Labrador, who is about as majestic as the recumbent lion in the last post.  I couldn’t resist rendering Regal CJ on the iPad.  I did this on the long flight from Los Angeles to Japan a couple of months ago.  Couldn’t sleep so I figured I’d do something productive instead.

The Lion ~~ Baltimore Museum of Art

I like to paint and draw sculptures, castings, molds and the like. It lets me focus on form and value without the distraction and mystique of glorious color. This majestic Italian lion from the BMA sculpture garden was great fun to paint.
